Adults all over Wake County are getting involved in Karate!

For some unexplained reason, adults are taking up the martial arts and doing it in huge numbers. All of a sudden, adults from 20 to 60 are discovering that Karate offers them something unique. At Karate International, we are seeing Adult classes that are triple the size of the previous years.

Some of the adults currently taking Karate have speculated that men and women are trying hard to balance work life, family and fitness. Karate, at the right Karate school, offers a great way to reduce stress, get in shape and the enormous benefit of learning to take care of themselves!

A survey of the women who have been taking classes at Karate International for 3 years or more shows that women feel that they have taken control of many areas of their own life, but they lacked success in one area. When they walked down the street, or went on business trips, they still felt that they could be overpowered by a criminal. Why not conquer total self confidence by going after this one weak area in their lives?

In this same survey, many of the men noted that they enjoy the benefit of having an instructor guide each workout. They know they will get a workout at their own level. With all the weather changes, they also pointed out their preference for an indoor, year round training facility.

Similarly, the ability to train with so many adults with common goals and to socialize with others who were taking charge of their lives, was a main factor in the reason they chose Karate International.

How do I get started?

Most adults start out by taking the $29.50 introductory program. The $29.50 includes 3 beginner adult classes, an orientation, and a new uniform! It is a great chance to try it out and actually take the beginner classes with all the other beginner adults.

What is the class size?

Our classes are small, usually 8 or less in the beginner group. Our instructors have trained for many years as teachers so that they make adults feel comfortable and safe in the classes. After all, very few adults like to be a beginner at anything. We'll do our best to have you enjoy the classes and get a workout that is right for you body conditioning. Every karate class is a bit like having a personal training session.

What should I expect the first time I come?

At the first appointment we would start with an orientation. It will take about 15 minutes. Then we will guide you right into the group beginner adult class that starts at 7:30 any night, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday or 10:00 a.m. on Saturdays. We like to do the orientation at 7:15 on any of those evenings, or at 9:45 am on Saturday. We would do the 15 minute orientation first, then you would pay the $29.50 and we would fit you for your new uniform. We have locker rooms where you can change and you will be barefoot in the group class.

So, the first time you are here, you would spend about 1.25 hours. After that, you could choose any day of the week for the 2nd and 3rd classes, and again, they would be at 7:30 Monday, Wednesday or Thursday or 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
